The Kite Maker

We visited Dastkar Nature Baazar in Delhi.

What a wonderful place to be. There were so many Artisans with their wonderful creations. There was something for everyone, even for our daughter. She loved this handmade paper kite’s stall and bought some cute paper kites. This man had some really cute fish mobiles made of paper.

How to distinguish pure silk from artificial silk?

Today one lady mailed me asking me if a vintage sari in my shop was 100% pure silk and will it pass "silk mark test".

 To be honest I was not aware of silk mark test but had a fair idea of pure silk and art silk feel and texture. So i googled my query and saw many results. most of them asked to do a burn test that means you take some threads of the fabric in question and burn it. Apparently real silk will burn and curl up, and smell like burning hair. I did the test and the sari in question passed the test with flying colors.
